The Medical Preparation Program at BTEC can get you started!

Med Prep provides students general workplace skills and specific health industry knowledge that can assist them in attaining employment in a variety of entry level positions within health care settings or continue their education at the post-secondary level. Upon completion of the Med Prep program, students are eligible to take the state exam to become a Certified Nurses Aide.

Med Prep is for serious students with a long-term goal of employment in the medical field; a strong program commitment is essential for success. Students will complete 50 volunteer hours, participate in one or more service learning activities, and be a member of Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA).

Read a few of the comments from past students about how Med Prep has helped them to prepare for a career.

"My Med Prep experience has been very insightful. I have learned so much, not only about the medical field but about what it really takes to be in the medical field."

"Throughout the program, I have gained knowledge on skills, medical terminology, body systems and health science careers. I don't think these are the most important part of the program. The most important part of the program that I learned was self-discipline, respect, honesty and integrity."

"Who would have guessed on my day to go to the emergency room a 17 year old high school student would help save a life? I don't know one other person my age that can say that, but I can. Thank you, without you I couldn't have done it."

"Med Prep has had an impact on my life that no other course has ever done before or could even compare. It has transformed me into a more mature, responsible and caring individual."
