The intro to Health Care Occupations Program is designed for students who are interested in pursuing careers in the heath care field. This program is also recommended for 11th grade students who plan to apply for MedPrep in their 12th grade year. The core curriculum is focused on the following: health care career exploration, workplace skills including problem solving and teamwork, legal and ethical issues in health care, leadership skills, basic patient care, basic anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, medical math, basic pharmacology, basic infection control and cultural diversity. Students will receive training and test for certification in First Aid and CPR.
Students are required to participate in HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), and participate in fund raiser activities for conferences and competitions. Participation in HOSA is designed for leadership training and enhanced health care delivery through a program of awareness and recognition. In turn, students are able to make realisitic career choices and enjoy successful employment.
